Retail Rollout Fixture Programs for Multi-Store Brands

DNS Industries makes store fixture and millwork packages for retail brands opening several locations, managed from our 40,000 sq ft facility in Vaughan, Ontario. A rollout program works from one approved set of drawings and specifications, with production and freight planned against each store’s installation date.

What a rollout program is

A one-off fit-out is priced, drawn and built once. A rollout program turns an approved store design into a repeatable fixture package. The prototype sets the standard, and each new location is drawn from it, with changes made only where the site or the brand requires them.

For a rollout, repeatability and schedule control matter as much as the quality of the first store.

How DNS runs a program

  • An approved standard. Each location begins with the approved program drawings, finish schedule and hardware list.
  • Site conditions in the shop drawings. Mall units often differ in wall conditions, ceilings, services, access and landlord rules. We revise the shop drawings for the confirmed site conditions before production.
  • Batch production. Repeated components are produced in batches and then allocated by store.
  • Packed by store. Fixtures and hardware are packed and labelled by store, with shipping scheduled to the agreed installation date.
  • Schedules from the install date. Production and freight are planned back from the required installation date, including the landlord’s delivery and work windows. When a date moves, we re-plan the release with your project team.

What is made in-house, and what comes from partners

DNS manufactures some components directly and manages specialist suppliers for others.

In our Vaughan facility: shop drawings, CNC machining, solid surface fabrication, acrylic fabrication, finishing, LED integration, assembly and staging.

Through specialist partners, coordinated by DNS: metal fabrication and powder coating, glass, stone countertops and vinyl graphics. Where they are in our scope and can be pre-fitted, partner parts are fitted to the millwork before shipping.

Installation is carried out by installation partners or by the general contractor, working from our drawings and install documents.

L’Occitane North America

DNS has supplied store fixtures and millwork to L’Occitane North America for more than 60 stores across Canada and the United States, including inline mall stores, outlets and kiosks, using common fixture modules and construction details across locations. Read the L’Occitane program case study.

Formats we build for

  • Inline mall stores and street-front flagships
  • Outlet stores
  • Kiosks and mid-court units
  • Shop-in-shop and concession fixtures inside host retailers

Typical packages include cash wraps, wall systems, display tables and islands, display cases, service counters and back-of-house storage. See custom display fixtures and store fixtures for retail brands.

What to agree at the start of a program

A rollout runs more smoothly when these are settled before the first release:

  • Who owns the fixture standard, and how revisions are numbered and issued
  • The release process for each store: site survey or landlord drawings, approval, production slot
  • Installation scope: who installs, who checks site readiness, who closes deficiencies
  • Freight terms, delivery appointments and, for US stores, the importer of record and customs broker
  • Finish control: approved samples, and how discontinued materials are replaced
  • Warranty terms and how replacement parts are ordered
  • How changes are priced and approved during the program

Shipping across Canada and to the United States

Fixtures are crated or skidded in Vaughan and shipped to sites across Canada and into the United States. For brands entering Canada, see store fixtures for US brands opening in Canada.

US tariffs on Canadian-made goods can change the landed cost of a fixture package, and the rate depends on what each fixture is made of and how it is classified. Raise it at quote stage, so your customs broker can confirm duties before pricing is final.

Starting a program

  1. Prototype store. We price and draw the first store from your design intent package, often with a first-article mock-up of the key fixture.
  2. Standard approved. Once the prototype is signed off, its drawings, finishes and hardware become the program standard.
  3. Store releases. For each new location we take the site survey or landlord drawings, adjust the shop drawings and release the store into production.
  4. Review after each group of stores. We review installation feedback and update the approved standard where required, so corrections carry into later production.

Frequently asked questions

How many stores make a rollout program?

There is no fixed number. As a rule of thumb, a brand planning three or more stores on the same design gains from an approved standard and batch production, and the value grows as more locations use the same fixture package.

Can you build stores in different provinces at the same time?

Yes, subject to production capacity, approved drawings and material availability at the time. Share your opening calendar early so production slots can be planned.

Do you install?

Installation is done by our installation partners or by your general contractor. We supply the drawings, labelled fixtures and install documents, and we answer field questions from whoever is on site.

Can you take over an existing program from another supplier?

Often, yes. It depends on access to the current drawings, CAD files, approved samples, specifications and any proprietary hardware. Send what you have and photos of built stores, and we will tell you what needs re-detailing before we quote.

What do you need for a quote?

Design intent drawings or your existing fixture standard, the finish schedule, a list of planned stores with target opening dates, and the installation and freight scope. Send them through Get in Touch or call 905-761-9568.

Planning more than one store? Send us your drawings or store list, even if the fixture standard is not final yet.
