Plant and Capabilities: DNS Industries, Vaughan

DNS Industries manufactures commercial millwork and store fixtures in an approximately 40,000 sq ft facility at 967 Edgeley Blvd, Vaughan, Ontario. Below: what we make in-house, what specialist partners supply, typical lead times, and the documents we provide for prequalification.

Plant at a glance

  • Location: 967 Edgeley Blvd, Vaughan, Ontario, north of Toronto near Highways 400 and 407.

Work done in-house

  • Shop drawings prepared by our own drafting team using Mozaik and SolidWorks, with CNC programming in EnRoute.
  • CNC machining on MultiCam CNC routers.
  • Edgebanding on a Felder edgebander.
  • Solid surface fabrication. See solid surface fabrication.
  • Acrylic fabrication for risers, guards, case components and lit panels.
  • Finishing in our own finishing area.
  • LED integration in shelving, display cases and wall systems. See illuminated display fixtures.
  • Assembly, inspection, packing and staging of fixture packages, including store-by-store kitting for rollout programs.

Work done by specialist partners

DNS sources and coordinates these parts, so the client deals with one fixture supplier:

  • Metal fabrication and powder coating
  • Glass
  • Stone countertops
  • Vinyl graphics
  • Installation, carried out by installation partners or by the project’s general contractor

Partner parts such as quartz tops, glass and metal frames are coordinated in our shop drawings, so the millwork is built to receive them.

Project range

  • Single stores and flagships for retail brands and landlords.
  • Multi-location rollout programs. For L’Occitane North America, DNS has supplied more than 60 stores across Canada and the United States. See retail rollout programs.
  • Commercial and institutional millwork through general contractors, including offices, healthcare, education and hospitality. See commercial millwork and institutional millwork.

Typical lead times

  • Shop drawings: about 1 to 3 weeks, depending on package size and the speed of approvals.
  • Production for a typical package: about 6 to 8 weeks after approved drawings.
  • Larger packages: about 12 to 16 weeks.

These are planning figures, not commitments. Confirm current timing for your project when you request a quote. See store fixture and millwork lead times.

Quality standards

We work to the woodwork standard and grade the project specification names: the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards (NAAWS, published by AWMAC and the Woodwork Institute) or the ANSI/AWI standards, such as ANSI/AWI 0641 for casework. See AWI quality grades explained.

Delivery

Fixtures are crated, skidded or blanket-wrapped and shipped by commercial carriers from Vaughan to sites across Ontario, the rest of Canada and the United States. Large packages can be staged in the plant and released to site in phases.

Documents for prequalification

For a GC or owner’s prequalification we can provide, on request:

  • Capabilities statement and project references
  • Certificate of insurance

See qualifications and procurement.
