Mihi Cannabis, Burlington: Fixture and Millwork Case Study

Mihi Cannabis, 3500 Dundas Street, Burlington, Ontario, completed in 2019. Space Craft developed the store’s look and feel; DNS Industries produced the fixture and millwork package from that design, including a 12-foot moss-planter counter with an overhead light-box structure.

The store

Mihi was designed as a place to learn about the product as well as buy it: wood-grain casework around the perimeter, product in lit cases and vitrines, display tables on black steel frames set out across the floor, and a planted feature running the length of the room. Discovery, education and brand walls carry graphics and screens with product information.

What DNS supplied

  • Counters: welcome counter, cash counters and cash wrap.
  • Display: low display tables, workshop and strain tables, small discovery modules, tall and long vitrines, and self-discovery, specific-needs and merchandise units with lockable accessory drawers.
  • Walls: brand wall, history wall, digital and discovery walls, and graphic-image units with illuminated graphics and TV brackets.
  • Feature: the 12-foot moss-planter counter and its overhead light-box structure. The moss and the planter lighting were outside DNS’s scope.
  • Lighting and graphics: shelf lighting, LED drivers, snap-lock graphic frames and illuminated graphics built into the units.
  • Drawings: value engineering, construction drawings, renderings and prototypes.
  • Delivery: shipping to site and installation supervision.

Materials and finishes

Melamine panels in two finishes, including Dark Olive, with plastic laminate, white melamine interiors, Caesarstone, glass, metal, tile, wallpaper, clear 1/8-inch acrylic, and LED lighting with snap-lock graphic frames.
