Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Elder Care: A Healthcare Millwork Case Study

For the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, an elder-care residence is more than a building — it is a home for the community’s most respected members. The design called for warmth and dignity, not the cold uniformity of typical institutional casework. Turning that intent into built millwork was DNS Industries’ job. Working with Groupe Chagall and CoreBuild Construction, we fabricated the complete millwork and casework package for this landmark 132-bed long-term-care project to the architect’s drawings — engineered for manufacture, CNC-machined, and finished in our Vaughan facility.

Built for a Healthcare Standard

Long-term-care fabrication is unforgiving: every surface has to endure round-the-clock use for years while still feeling like home. Our scope reflected that — accessible resident vanities built for comfort and safety, nursing-station and servery casework designed for continuous use, tiled kitchenette cabinetry, and warm wood-door corridors that soften the institutional into the residential. Every profile, edge, and finish was selected to withstand the rigours of continuous care while reading unmistakably as a home.

The material palette does the emotional work: warm wood tones, residential-scale casework, and finishes chosen to feel domestic rather than clinical. In a space where residents live every day, the millwork isn’t a backdrop — it’s part of the dignity of the place.
