Michel's Bakery Café at Yorkdale with maple veneer counter, slatted counter front and booth seating with wood tabletops

Michel’s Bakery Café, Yorkdale

Michel’s Bakery Café at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto needed a warm, clean-looking counter and seating area built for food court use. DNS Industries built the café’s millwork in our shop for general contractor BuildiT, with the shop drawings drafted in-house before production started.

What we built

The front counter has a slatted front and a black top. The condiment station and the booth seating are finished in wormy maple, with matching wormy maple tabletops. We also built the panelled feature wall and the point-of-sale station.

How the work was planned

Food court work leaves very little room on site. We drafted shop drawings from the design intent and got them approved before production.

Wood surfaces in a café are used and cleaned constantly, so the counter edges and tabletops were built to handle frequent cleaning.
