Wood & veneers

The warmth in a space almost always comes from wood. DNS works in walnut, white oak, maple, ash, cherry, and specialty species, in plain-sliced, quartered, rift, and rotary cuts, with book-match, slip-match, and sequence-matched layups.

• Best for: reception desks, feature walls, corridors, boardrooms, hospitality millwork
• Specify carefully: cut and match method (they change cost and appearance more than species), sequence-matching across a room, and whether panels must be from a single flitch
• Finishes: clear, stained, cerused, wire-brushed, and low-VOC options for institutional projects

High-pressure laminate

The workhorse of commercial millwork — durable, cleanable, cost-effective, and available in an enormous colour and texture range including realistic woodgrains, solid colours, and matte “soft-touch” surfaces.

• Best for: casework, back-of-house, high-traffic retail, healthcare, food service
• Specify carefully: edge treatment (a matched edge reads as premium; a contrasting one reads as detail), fingerprint resistance on dark matte finishes, and post-forming vs. flat-lay
• Note: modern architectural laminates (matte, anti-fingerprint, thermally healing) close much of the gap to painted finishes at a fraction of the maintenance

Solid surface

Seamless, repairable, non-porous, and thermoformable — solid surface is the go-to where hygiene and continuous surfaces matter, and where a design calls for curves that stone can’t make.

• Best for: healthcare and lab casework, reception and service counters, curved or seamless features, washroom vanities
• Specify carefully: seam locations, integral vs. drop-in sinks, thermoforming radii, and edge profile build-ups
• Why it wins in healthcare: non-porous and renewable — it can be sanded and repaired in place after years of cleaning

Metal fabrication

DNS runs metal in-house, which matters: when the steel and the millwork come from one shop, the reveals actually line up. Stainless, mild steel, aluminium, and brass, with powder-coat, anodized, blackened, brushed, and patina finishes.

• Best for: display systems, structural feature elements, shelving and brackets, trim and reveals, retail fixtures
• Specify carefully: finish direction on brushed metals, weld visibility and grinding standard, and galvanic separation where dissimilar metals meet

Glass & acrylic

Light, display, and separation — glass does what no other material can. DNS integrates tempered, low-iron, back-painted, fluted, and laminated glass, plus acrylic where impact resistance or forming is needed.

• Best for: display cases and vitrines, secure retail displays, partitions, back-painted feature panels, illuminated elements
• Specify carefully: low-iron where true colour matters (standard glass carries a green cast), tempering requirements, and edgework standard

Engineered stone & specialty surfaces

Quartz, sintered stone, terrazzo, and microcement for the moments that need mass and permanence — alongside specialty surfaces like veneer-faced acoustic panels and back-painted architectural glass.

• Best for: statement counters, cash wraps, feature cladding, high-wear horizontal surfaces
• Specify carefully: slab sizes and seam strategy, edge details, and substrate support for heavy materials

Integrated LED & lighting

Lighting is fabricated into the millwork, not added after — which is the difference between a clean, even glow and a visible hotspot. DNS integrates LED into display cases, shelving, reveals, and feature walls, with the wiring and heat management designed in.

• Specify carefully: colour temperature and CRI (retail product colour depends on it), diffuser choice to eliminate dotting, driver access for service, and dimming protocol
